CryoSMOS is an European Space Agency (ESA) project aimed at exploiting SMOS data for the understanding of the physical processes which take place in Antarctica.

A preliminary list of topics of the research involved the quantification of the internal ice-sheet temperature, study of the bedrock topography and/or geothermal heat flux, characterization of the ice shelves, characterization of the surface processes.

The project started on Nov,1st 2014 and will last for two years.
